Volunteers Desperately Needed!

The good news is that our shelter is growing leaps and bounds. We are doing amazing things in the community to place MANY dogs and puppies in wonderful homes.

The bad news is that we are severely understaffed. We need your help. We are in great need of volunteers in the following areas.

Volunteers to take pictures of Shelter dogs in need of homes on a WEEKLY Basis. The best time for us would be on Sundays, but this could be negotiable. It would be best if it was a team of two people so that they had help. This is an EXTREMELY important part of getting dogs/puppies adopted. The internet is our link to the world of adoptive families. Experience using a digital camera and a computer is necessary. This will require a 2-4 hour commitment weekly.

Volunteers to aid in our “call back” program. What is this? Well, we at The Blue Dog Shelter feel it is important to follow up with our friendly four legged friends and their new families to be sure that we are helping them to be successful. This requires a commitment of 4-5 hours a week CONSISTENTLY. We can train for this position. It will be a plus if the volunteer has experience in a animal setting, but is not required.

Soon we will be looking for a treasurer for our Board of Directors . This would require involvement in the shelter at an entry level first. Such entry level positions would be helping with paperwork, fundraising and advertising the pets in need on programs like Pet Finder and Pets 911. Help with grant writing would be a huge plus.

FOSTER MOTHERS AND FATHERS! We need families that are willing to take dogs/ puppies into their home that we need help with. Sometimes this may mean that the dog/puppy has a small cold or is recovering from a slight illness. These foster parents will need a way to separate their current dogs from our shelter dog. Other dogs just need some extra care coming out of their shell or some TLC and guidance.

Volunteers to do routine vet visits or transports to pick up puppies/dogs that are coming from our quarantine facility in Harvard,MA.

GRANT WRITERS NEEDED!!!

Adoption Coordinators Needed: We will train for this position, however, this is a complicated process as we have many criteria that must be filled in order to adopt from the Blue Dog Shelter. It is the job of these volunteers to make sure that the decisions that they make are in the LONG TERM best interest of the new family and prospective new four legged friend. This position requires a 5+ hour commitment weekly.

Event Volunteers: this would include helping with fundraising events and advertising such as the yearly Blue Festival, Dinner Dance, Yard Sales, Adoption And Shelter Awareness Days, and more!

If you feel that you can help in any of these areas please email us ati nfo@bluedogshelter.com and we will email you a volunteer application. We are only looking for volunteers that are interested in making a regular commitment. Thank you in advance for your help. The Dogs NEED YOU!
